I was so excited when my sister wanted to do another photography session showcasing her six year old little man. When I do childhood sessions, I always try to incorporate parent-child images. Parents are always glad that I did. Their child will never be the same as they are at this moment in time and being able to capture that is such a joy for me. We met up at Fairmount Park in Riverside for their family session. They snuggled on the blanket and hung out in some gorgeous trees. Let me be honest, sessions with small children are never boring. Will they smile? Will they follow directions? Rarely. Haha. This was also the case with my nephew. But, when I let him be himself and interact with his mama naturally (with a little posing guidance from me) the result is that I get to capture his true personality...his unique self. My fav? This blanket photo. Gah! The love between a mama and her little boy is awe inspiring. Parenting is hard work, but snuggles and sweet moments make it so worth it. When I look at these pictures I see such sweetness and love between family members. Also, I can't get over his eyelashes. They're stunning. Mine are puny and sparse in comparison. Love it! Welcome earthside Baby Brooklyn! I was so happy to meet this 11 day old baby girl for her newborn session, especially after photographing her mama's maternity session a few months ago. (You can see some of her mama's pregnancy session here.) Mama, daddy, and baby girl came to my studio at Mommy's First Peek in Glendora for her newborn session. We did several set-ups to celebrate the birth of this sweet rainbow baby girl. Mama provided a colorful tutu and I brought along a tieback that I made just for this little one. For those of you who aren't familiar with the term rainbow baby, it is a child born after a previous loss. The concept is that there is a rainbow - a symbol of hope - after every storm. Having a rainbow baby doesn't diminish the feelings for or memories of the baby who is gone, but brings newfound joy to a family's life. Mama fell in love with the dream catcher as soon as she walked into the studio. We, of course, had to incorporate that into the session as well. Baby Brooklyn looked so sweet in the simple white of the dream catcher and ruffle bottom pants. Her little rolls are just icing on the cake. I LOVE it! Contact Me to schedule your newborn session.

I was so honored to be chosen to capture newborn photographs for this 14 day old baby boy. His mama is one of the ultrasound technicians at Mommy's First Peek, where my newborn studio is located. Little Gary came down to my Norco studio to with his mommy and daddy. At the session, mama told me that Baby Gary has quite the legacy to live up to as the third of his name. I love when I hear of families carrying on traditions to the next generation. (All of my little ones carry a family name, as their middle name. It's a great way to honor family members who came before us. Have you done anything like this to honor your family heritage?) My favorite part of this session was being able to photograph little Gary with each of his parents in a unique way. They found some sample images that turned out beautifully. I don't do a lot of newborn sessions using a black background, but I may start doing it a little more now. These photographs have such a classic look. This 15 day old baby girl was sleepy from the start of the session. I didn't even have to wrap her up to get her ready for her photography debut. She was born ready for her newborn session. Baby Malia was referred to me by a previous client. (I LOVE referrals!!!! It's the best compliment I can get from my clients. <3) My client, Nicholas' mommy, came along with Malia, her mama, and grandma. You see, Nicholas and Malia are second cousins. We were hoping to get a shot of the cousins together, but they wanted to take turns being awake during the session. So much baby sweetness in one room. It's good for a mama's soul to be surrounded by other moms who are going through exactly the same season of mothering as you. These ladies chatted and got coffee throughout the newborn session.
Baby Malia's mommy said she like creams and purples. I also snuck in a rose-colored set-up that turned out amazingly. This tiny baby girl, born at less than 6 pounds, looked gorgeous on rose. Don't you think? And I was so excited to get all of that sweet baby squishiness from this little one. Meet this sweet 24 day old baby boy. Baby Nicholas was the dreamiest 3 week old ever. He came into my studio at Mommy's First Peek - Norco with his whole family. Mom, dad, big brother, and big sister joined us for his newborn session. It was so fun talking to baby Nicholas' mama during the session. (She was kind and gorgeous! You couldn't even tell she'd had a baby a few weeks before.) We both have older children and new little ones. It's amazing how different parenting is later in life. When our older ones were babies it seemed so much easier. But we wouldn't want it any other way; these new little ones who have joined our families are such a blessing.
Nicholas' big brother was fascinated with my Baby Shusher and must've downloaded 3 different baby sleep sounds apps while he was at the studio. Isn't that the cutest thing? I love when older siblings take such an interest in these new little ones who have joined their family. |
